We had the good fortune of connecting with Bradford Hermann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bradford, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?

I was raised on a 50 acre horse farm near Athens, Georgia. My Father was a professor of entomology, study of insects, and biology and a scientist at the University of Georgia and my Mother was a horse trainer and riding instructor. Life on the farm was a very freeing experience that led to a deep love for all animals, from insects and beyond. Everyday was nature to the fullest. This upbringing allowed my mind to become very open and created an awareness to more than just human interaction.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My art consists of recycled materials, from the paint, components, and the surface plane used. I also create masks and sculptures from flora, more specifically, parts from palm and other trees. Around 6 months ago I started a Youtube channel, under my name Bradford Hermann, which has been very exciting and trying, to say the least. Obviously creating art can be a very in-depth process in itself, its own energy, but then introducing filming, camera angles, audio, lighting, battery lives, personality, dialogue, and editing adds new meaning to focus and time management. New challenges are faced each and everyday to overcome and has made me deeply appreciate the process of not only filming the creating of art but all of the intricacies involved to manifest the finished product. To all of my clients, supporters, haters, and the world, I am here to learn, fail, overcome, grow, evolve, create, and share my love and dedication to making this planet, others, and myself better one day at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami beach is a great place to experience a lot of culture. From the beautiful beaches and people, to the wide array of mouth watering cuisine, world class galleries and art, to the vibrant and pulsating nightlife. Miami beach encapsulates everything necessary to keep the mind and soul contently engaged, create lifelong memories, but also to just relax and soak up some warm rays.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been many individuals throughout my life, as I would assume for most of us. My parents have supported my many different paths that have led to my artistic career and have my deepest respect and admiration. At the beginning of my artistic journey, Robert Rauschenberg and Lucas Century were two forces that told me to follow my passion and gave me a confidence to progress. In the past several years I dedicate much recognition to dear friends Mariapia Malerba and Cesar Aguilera, both of which are fantastic artists and creative minds, Jim Griffith at Sydney, Berne Davis Art Center, Barbara Linstrom, Brian Berg, Jessica Olesen, and my daughter Alessandra Hermann.
